Diwali event at Karunashraya

I have celebrated diwali with old age homes n all but this was more special as there were so many people who are fighting with their life and atleast we got a chance to sing, dance n enjoy with them.

The best part was involvement from caretakers who seem to be totally enjoying the event. Thank you all for bringing that smile on their face , that small enjoyment they had that time. HI volunteers also did a fantastic job of taking care of sweet distribution n the skit they performed. Thanks to I-Volunteer for arranging this wonderful event at Karunashraya

Musical Event @ Nightingales.

Celebrated musical event at Nightingales..a home for Alzheimer n Dementia people. It was a memorable event. Along with elders, their caretakers also joined in celebration. During Audio-visual game, many elders recollected their good old days n identified singers, actors, actresses n all.

Finally one elder guy came n danced like a young kid.. He was so happy finally. We were happy that we made some people smile on that day. Thank you I-Volunteer for this initiative..

My take on "I too Had a love story"

Read this book "I too had a Love Story by Ravinder Singh. Simply amazing, Explanation of love and its pain at its best. People who hate love, will definitively feel it, once they start reading it. I too felt the same. Nice characterization of two lead characters, their expression of love towards each other, their feelings, their pain, their nostalgic moments n so on...Only a person who could have experienced this sort of love n pain can only pen a book like this. The end part was so touching that I took more than a day to come out of it, so much engrossed in that book. I think the author has created a love epic that will surpass all generations. Good one, Best one.

My first achievement in my NGO

My first ever achievement in my NGO happened last week. As I have mentioned previously that I was doing counseling and teaching basic communication skills to a physically disabled girl, finally she got a job in a BPO last week. My concerned Manager gave me an intro abt that girl, her family background, her present disability condition etc. I personally took this as an challenge. The day i stepped into the room for counseling, I decided that am not going to loose till I give my 100% or til she becomes totally confident. I started going to NGO daily after office hours. I made her emotionally stable, taught her basic tenses, included easy formulas to learn n practice English sentences n words. I did my best to counsel her and teach her. Finally, last week she made it. I really felt so happy for her. I am sure she would dedicate herself to the job n she would still improve a lot.

Sign Language Classes

Started attending Sign language classes for the past one month. Its really very interesting, learning lot from HI candidates only who are getting trained for job skills in Accenture and related companies. I also made lots of friends. Feels great when you communicate with these people. Shared some information with them, they were also so happy.

Also taking counseling n spoken English sessions for a specially disabled gal. Hope she gets good job soon so that she could support her family.

Function at Enable India

Attended Function at Enable India. Visually Impaired n Hearing Impaired people performed dance, sang song. Their dance steps were perfectly matching that left the audiences spellbound.

There was add n skit staged by VI n HI people.. Everyone performed with great spirit. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Enrolled in NGO called Enable India last Saturday which gives employment opportunites to Physically Disabled, Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired and Mentally Retarted based on their skil sets by providing need based training. Saturday was registration for these people. Helped in the registration process for these people. Got an opportinity to interact with Hearing IMpaired peoplen visuallu impaired people. Then we had an job profiling for these candidates. We need to assess their background, their disability and physcological factors and need to indentify the training they require after detail counseling. Started counseeling these people and helped them creating awareness abt job market, trainings n all. Some were evry happy after the session. I was visibly moved by seeing them, by interacting with them. Som VI people are born blind, bt stll so positive n full of energy, they want to learn computers n want to support their family. Some had lost vision someyears back, so for them too we counseld abt imp of communcation skill, training etc. So overall it was great exp. Met n interacted with dff people..

This Sunday i sponsord a child for her education n medical expenses for the whole year through an NGO here in Madurai. The kids have lost their parents n in charge of their uncle. Girl is studying in 6th n his brother in 1st class.. I spoke to her uncle n offerd my help. It was really a moving experience for me. I have been looking for this thng for more than 2 to3 years but this time I made it. Also we donated Rice, Dal, Oil n othr Pongal related items for all the needy people. I felt really satisfied n happy.
